On a recent Sunday afternoon, a serious auto accident took place on Interstate 495 in Wrentham. Police officers, emergency medical responders and firefighters all converged on the scene to render aid. A collision between a Buick sedan and a motorcycle stopped traffic on that stretch of road, as everyone rushed to try and assist those involved. Unfortunately, the car crash ended the life of the motorcyclist.
Upon arriving at the scene, police began collecting information concerning the incident. Officers examined both vehicles, marks on the roadway and all other indicators of how the crash occurred. Interviews with witnesses may also have played a role in the early stages of the investigation. In addition to the officers who responded to the initial call, the scene was also evaluated by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction team, as well as the Crime Scene Service Section.
Investigators continue to work to determine the cause of the accident. At the same time, the family of the individual who died in the collision is in the early stages of grieving for their lost loved one. For them, the coming days and week will be focused on making the rider's final arrangements and gathering with friends and family to remember the life lost in this crash.
They are likely not focused on the ongoing investigation as they move through the coming days, but they may find comfort once police are able to share more details about what led to the Massachusetts car crash that claimed their loved one's life. At that time, if it is determined that negligence played a role in the matter and the accident was the fault of the other driver, the family will have to decide if they wish to pursue a wrongful death suit. This is a highly personal decision, and one that the deceased's close family may consider as they begin to accept their loss.
