Taunton car accident ends in 1 death, serious injuries to another

A recent accident in Taunton is under investigation after one man died and another sustained serious injuries. According to authorities, two individuals occupied the minivan. The driver was identified as a 64-year-old man, and the passenger was identified as a 45-year-old man. The car accident occurred on Interstate 45 when, for unknown reasons, the minivan rolled over and landed off the roadway.

Both men were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, according to a preliminary report by authorities. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Beyond a report of a serious leg injury, the severity or his injuries and his condition has not been updated.

So far, authorities have not released any information about what may have caused this accident. It was noted that the accident occurred during the evening hours. The Massachusetts State Police, Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, and crime scene and reconstruction units are conducting the investigation into this incident.

Though it is unclear what led to this tragic Taunton car accident, one thing can be easily surmised. The families of these two individuals are likely reeling over their loss. As they look to the future, these families may choose to investigate their rights under Massachusetts' personal injury laws.

These laws provide that anyone injured in a car accident due to the negligence of another party may be eligible to seek compensation from those parties for their injuries and financial losses stemming from the accident. In the event that the investigation finds that a deceased party was negligent leading to the injuries, then his or her estate can be held liable under civil claims. Similarly, if it is discovered that another party's negligence led to an accident fatality, then the family of the deceased victim may also seek compensation against the negligent party. Successfully litigated personal injury or wrongful death claims can provide victims and families with compensation for medical and/or funeral expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.
